Pat Dare's Photo Gallery

Welcome to my gallery. I have always enjoyed taking pictures. My first digital camera was a Kodak DC4800 and I had used it mainly to take snapshots at events involving family and friends. After a while, I wanted to have more capability. So I purchased a Panasonic Lumix FZ10 that had a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens which provided 12x optical zoom with image stabilization. Because of its zoom range and macro capability, it opened up many more photo opportunities. I carried the camera around more regularly and looked for interesting things to shoot.

Later on, I purchased a Panasonic Lumic DMC-LX2 to complement the FZ10. The LX2 had a wider field of view and it was smaller. It didn't have as much zoom range, but it was very responsive and had lots of manual control options that made it fun to use. I found it convenient to use the LX2 as an all purpose camera and use the FZ10 when I want more zoom capability or intend to shoot macros. Unfortunately, I ended up losing the LX2.

I felt it was time to upgrade to a dslr and purchased a Nikon D40x. The dslr opens up even more photo opportunities with its large offering of lenses to suit different shooting situations. So far, my Nikon sytem collection of lenses is somewhat limited. Although the NikonD40x was reasonably light and easy to tote around, having extra lenses adds a lot more bulk and weight.

When the Panasonic LX3 became available, I purchased it to complement my dslr. It has a DC Vario-Summicrom F2.0 -2.8 lens that allows it to work well in low light situations. It also has a sufficiently wide field of view of 24mm equivalent. With this, I can use the dslr in combination with either a telephoto or a prime lens attached depending upon my needs..

This gallery is growing collection of pictures that I had taken and felt were worth sharing.   Please feel free to write me if you have any comments about my gallery
